Who’s the Salty Pentecostal?

Hi! I’m Chelle (‘SH-ell-ee’) Helms, the face behind “The Salty Pentecostal”.

Personality: Extrovert! – I’ve never met a stranger.

Relationship Status: Happily Married since 2021 to my best friend Steve!

Pets: My Golden Retriever Maverick!

Hobbies: Interior design, watching “The Office”, trying new recipes.

Fun fact: I did ballet and hip-hop for 18 years.

Favorite Food: Basically anything potato related.

Coffee Order: Strong, blonde & sweet (I make my coffee at home)

“The Salty Pentecostal” all started because of Instagram…

In early 2023, I was on Instagram and left a comment on a very popular church profile. They posted a reel of a Sunday service worship song – I commented that the musicianship was excellent, but the lighting and special effects were a little too much for me, emphasizing it felt more like a production and a show, not worship. I sincerely thought it wouldn’t get any attention. That my comment would just get buried in the usual hundreds of comments. Well…it got attention…but the OP was super kind and respectful. But in the midst of all the clap-backs, “Amens”. But one comment stuck out to me – “Well we found the Salty Pentecostal”. And as I read it, *light bulb*  IT CLICKED.

Almost all my life, I knew God has called me to speak openly about my faith and to teach about faith. To encourage and equip fellow believers, but I had no clue how or when.

I embraced that comment – regardless how they meant it – and ran with it. I immediately bought the domain name, with high hopes into what this can become.

I know in my DNA, I was created and designed to openly talk about Jesus and define truth with love. Encouraging people to walk closer to God and be led by Him daily.

In the last few years, I have come to own it, that I AM the Salty Pentecostal. Some days a little more salty, but consistently filled and led by the Holy Spirit and His love. To love God and love people.

So here it is, this is my digital piece of the world, to boldly share my passion and love for Jesus Christ, through it all!

I am here to help fellow Jesus believers be encouraged and how to become strong in their faith, leaving religious pretensions at the door. You can consider me your Spirit-filled best friend who will tell it to you straight. Full of love & truth, to help you grow in Jesus Christ.
